For most of the past decade, we had the privilege of founding and building Better Therapeutics (founded 2015; IPO 2021). Our premise was simple: treating the symptoms of diet- and age-related chronic disease with pharmaceuticals while ignoring the behavioral and lifestyle causes was broken. So we built something better, combining whole-food nutrition with a digital platform for diet and lifestyle change.

The results were powerful. Our products helped people reverse diabetes and improve heart and liver health, and we became the first non-drug treatment for type 2 diabetes authorized by the FDA.

Then we hit a wall: the healthcare system. Coverage stalled. Progress slowed. And like so many innovators in this space, we saw firsthand how hard it is to drive change from inside a system that wasn’t built to support it.
